Who can apply?
The Melbourne Foundations scholarships are open to Year
8 male students attending Victorian public schools.
The scholarships provide full-fee funding for students to attend
Melbourne Grammar School, from Years 9 to 12.
The scholarships are provided to students whose families are currently
unable to cover the full cost of a private school education.

Selection criteria
Factors including potential and extra-curricular interests are considered
in the selection process.
Current grades for applicants do not necessarily have to be high.

Selection process
The successful candidate is required to complete a selection process
in three stages:
 |
An aptitude test: this test is
not based on the material taught in school.
|
 |
A written application is also required to be submitted at the time the aptitude test is held. The written application is relatively brief
and provides background information on you and your interests.
|
 |
Interviews with the
final few candidates and their families, leading to the successful
student being awarded the scholarship. |

Process"
Performance standards of the scholarship
The scholarship holder is required to meet performance standards.
These are a series of minimum marks set after the first semester
of study, and will vary according to:
 |
The difficulty of the subjects undertaken.
|
 |
Your natural strengths and weaknesses.
|
 |
Individual potential
performance. |
The performance standards are set at a level that can be achieved
when you apply yourself at the level typically expected from a
hard working secondary school student. You will be strongly encouraged
to undertake extra-curricular activities such as sports and the
arts.
